SPORTS THERAPY ONE

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy

Targeted soft tissue treatment using specialist instruments to help reduce muscular discomfort, improve movement and ease areas that feel tight or restricted.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy, often referred to as IASTM, uses specially designed stainless-steel instruments, including RockBlades®, alongside hands-on treatment and movement.

Treatment is adapted to your comfort, symptoms and goals and may be incorporated into a Sports Massage or Sports Therapy appointment where appropriate.

INSTRUMENT ASSISTED SOFT TISSUE THERAPY

What is Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy?

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy uses specially designed tools to apply controlled pressure and movement across the skin and underlying soft tissues.

At Sports Therapy One, RockBlades® instruments may be used to work precisely around areas of muscular tension, sensitivity or restricted movement.

Treatment may be combined with Sports Massage, active movement, stretching or rehabilitation exercises depending on what is most appropriate for you.

The aim is not to scrape the skin, break down scar tissue or cause heavy bruising. Treatment should feel purposeful and controlled, with pressure adjusted throughout the appointment.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS

How treatment may help

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy may provide short-term improvements in muscular discomfort and range of movement, particularly when combined with appropriate movement and exercise.

It is not used as a standalone cure. It is one treatment option that may form part of a wider Sports Massage, Sports Therapy or rehabilitation appointment.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT APPOINTMENT

Sports Massage or Sports Therapy?

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy is a treatment technique rather than a separate clinical assessment. It may be included within a Sports Massage or Sports Therapy appointment.

Sports Massage is usually suitable when you want hands-on treatment for muscular tightness, stiffness, fatigue or general maintenance.

Sports Therapy is more appropriate when you have a new injury, a specific area of pain, recurring symptoms or a problem requiring assessment and rehabilitation.
